I made 2 scarves just before Christmas, one for my step father in law and the other for my step son. They are almost 65 years apart and so it shows how timeless and contemporary the pattern is. I love the way the cables weave in and out and although the wool (Rowan Alpaca Cotton) does do the pattern justice and is lovely and warm to wear it is a bit of a pain to knit with! However, a little patience, some good lighting and after a few rows in it becomes much easier.
It's fairly straightforward, once you get your head round the cable abbreviations. The pattern repeats over 8 rows so you should fall into a rhythm once you get going and may not even need to look at the pattern.
I've listed the pattern on a separate page so you can find it easily. Just click here to go straight to it.
Please let me know if you like it and I'd love to hear if you have any comments on revisions or substitute yarns.
