When I was working in the office as a solicitor my day was divided into 6 minute units. A letter out - 1 unit; telephone in - 2 units; meeting with client - 6 units. Ideally I'd record 65 units per day and if I'd had a good day sometimes more. If I'd managed to actually eat my lunch away from my desk or pursue some non-work related interaction with another human being then it would almost certainly be less (nearer the 50 unit mark!) but overall it would average out to a nice round 65 units.
I thought when I was unable to work after having Oliver that my days being divided into manageable countable units was over (yeah) and for a time that was right. However, after having Zac 3 weeks ago those manageable countable units have returned except not in 6 minute snippets but 3 hourly repetitive chunks. Zac takes forever and ever to feed and more often than not falls fast asleep. So my 3 hourly chunks are spent picking from the following options:
**1 hour - feed Zac, wake Zac, feed Zac, wake Zac, feed Zac
1 hour - eat, drink, wash (that's me), burp, change, wash, entertain (that's him)
1 hour - knit, blog, sleep, feed CSI addiction, buy yarn on internet **
Repeat from ** to **
I feel like it's Groundhog Day, except it's every 3 hours rather than every 24!
I'd forgotten how quick the pattern is repeated and I think I'm running now on empty. My midwife reminded me how you tend to hit the wall at around about 3 weeks and she's right!
So to try and inject some normality into my life I'm busily knitting up some Arthur the Alien's in Cascade 220 yarn and I can't believe how long it's taking to get them finished. Oh well! They're for a secret little project which I hope I can tell you about soon.
I did get a lovely surprise in the post this morning which was a bundle of Rico Creative Cotton from First 4 Yarns. I pre-ordered it about a month ago and was hoping that it was going to land any day soon. I've not used this yarn before but just love the colours it comes in at a price you simply can't argue with. First 4 Yarns sell this at £1.50 per ball which is just brilliant and perfect for some guilt free stash building! As you can see the lovely ladies there even included a little pack of love hearts with my order! How cute is that!
Machine washable to 30 degrees
Recommended needle size - 4 - 5mm
And best of all it comes in 33 delicious colours! These are the ones you get in the pre-order Lucy pack (minus Cardinal which will follow shortly).......
