Oliver turned 2 this week which was a bit of a surprise for him. Since he had absolutely no idea what was going on he was a bit bemused by all his presents and the gathering of friends and family popping brightly wrapped gifts into his little hands. Still - he got the hang of it and was merrily tearing off wrapping and being all excited in next to no time.
By far the best reaction was to a little Thomas the Tank Engine outfit complete with a big picture of Thomas on the front which my dad bought for him. He couldn't believe there was a real live "choo choo" on the hoodie and kept running around telling everyone "look - choo choo!" and pointing to the train. Hilarious.
We also had a little party with his NCT buddies which was held jointly with his friends Betsy and Megan with cake and sausages and everything. He managed to blow out all the candles including Betsy's and Megan's share on the chocolate birthday Buttons cake! I think his secret was getting his little puffy cheeks ready before we'd finished singing "Happy Birthday" which gave him the competitive lead. Just like his father!
