It has become something of a ritual as each of my friends from work have a baby that I make a blanket for the new baby that they can keep and hopefully pass down to their grandchildren! So far they've all had boys and I was yearning to do something with pink in it. I had a feeling that Karen was going to have a girl but I kept it to myself until out popped Florence Jean towards the end of last year. I had a bit of a back log which included finishing the bobble blanket and so I finally got it started after a few false starts last week.
Now, I've always fancied crocheting an afghan even though I only learned to crochet last year. My husband on the other hand thinks they're old fashioned and remind him of his granny. Not wishing to habitually disagree with everything he says I rallied on and found a lovely pattern for a hexagon granny square over on Attic 24 which I thought would be perfect.
So far so good.
I've made a bundle of hexagon's and sewn them into strips.
I then crocheted the strips together.
I've trialled a couple of half hexagons, the one below being the probable winner.
And now, just before adding the finishing touches......have run out of wool!
Oh dear. I'm now having withdrawal symptoms as I've been at it non-stop for a week and left my husband to be a crochet widower and now I'm waiting (impatiently) for my wool to arrive so I can get the thing finished!
