It's been a bit bit quiet on the blog front and more than a few days since my last post so I wanted to explain what's been going on. I've got my knitting head back on after a few crazy months dancing with my crochet hooks and I've been working on my next knitted toy pattern. It's almost finished and I'm just waiting for a few characterful supplies to arrive from Purple Linda in order to add the finishing touches. Great name - Purple Linda - it reminds me of a girl I used to share a house with during my days at Law College. She had a great sense of humour and couldn't wait to get old and wear purple. At the time I didn't get it until she stuck Jenny Joseph's poem on the communal fridge.....
WARNING!
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other peoples' gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickles for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Great poem... I just love the idea of learning to spit!
Anyway - I digress!...Back to knitting.....
I'm really excited to get him/her (sorry .. trying not to give away any spoilers) onto paper and then onto Etsy and Ravelry. With a fair wind and a fast postman, fingers crossed he/she will be making entrance very soon!
