Thank you to everyone who entered the competition to name the Pheasant for my new knitting pattern! I have been inundated with some fabulous names and it was really hard to choose a winner.
However, the winning name has been chosen and he will be called Freddie the Pheasant (or Frederick Pheasant the Third)!
Fred (or Freddie) was suggested by Gingerknits and Michele (who left me teary eyed after her touching tale). So congratulations Ladies, a copy of the PDF will be emailed to you today. Freddie will also be available today in my webshop, Etsy, Ravelry & Folksy. Don't forget that the cheapest price is in my webshop (my overheads are lower there) and you can download it immediately from there too. Now, back to the business of knitting and this is what I finished this weekend......
It's a pattern I mentioned in last week's blog post, called Trillian, by Martina Behm. I finished and blocked it at the weekend and persuaded my very lovely (erm.. most of the time!) teenage step-daughter to wear it for me. The pattern is originally designed for 4ply sock yarn but after a little maths and some swatching worked out that I'd be able to make a slightly smaller one in one 50g skein/hank of Manos del Uruguay Lace in Vidia.
I'm delighted with it as it's so soft and almost weightless and feels just beautiful draped around my neck. The colours are just lovely too.
Final dimensions (after blocking the lace edge only):
Length (tip to tip) - 175cm
Depth at its widest point - 26cm
