Talk about building up posts with sexy titles to then find out it's about crocheting! So I guess that's 'bye-bye' to a few readers!
You may recall that in my last blog post I was hoping to cast on Cocoknits Prairie Boots and make some progress with my Beekeepers Quilt? Well, it was all too much to ask as I simply can't decide on which colours and yarn to use for the Boots. Also, it didn't help that Mr C took a look at the pattern and rolled his eyes. Of course, there's nothing wrong with the pattern or indeed the very lovely design; I think he was hoping that I would cast on another pair of socks for him instead. The BKQ I've sort've lost my enthusiam for, which considering it happened at only 12 hexipuffs in, I feel I've had a lucky escape. Better to bail out now than in 6 months time having knitted 300 puffs, I say!
So, looking for a quick project to use up a very large stash of Artesano Superwash DK I discovered this super cute pattern on Ravelry....
Using the yarn held double, 2 balls of DK makes the basic hat which will fit kids aged between 3 and 10. The rest of the yarn for the owlish features are from oddments of this and that I can't bear to throw away. Ol absolutely loves it and has worn it everyday for school. I'm not sure some of the stitch counts are correct in the pattern, although that could be my mistake and afterall, crochet is particularly forgiving and with my maths head on was able to make the minor corrections
