Boris the Bunny Rabbit Knitting Pattern for DK and Worsted/Aran Weights

A little bit late than promised but here is Boris...

 

I am so pleased with this pattern, especially his legs which are knitted as one piece. I have designed this pattern with 2 yarn weights in mind so it's a great stash buster too for using up those lovely rabbit coloured 50g balls hanging around the bottom of your stash. Simply choose your favourite yarn in either a DK weight or an aran/worsted weight and off you go! Simples! There is a little intarsia on the ears and body and a simple colour change for his paws which you can either knit or leave out depending on your preference.

I also knitted an Easter Bunny Boris in white (why do I knit in white as it's a nightmare to photo!) worsted yarn and here he is...

 

The worsted/aran version is approx 9 in tall and the DK version is 7.5in tall when seated. You could sew the legs on so that he is standing which will make him an inch or so taller.

New Page - Errata

I have to admit it, firstly to my husband and then to everyone else. It's true, I'm not perfect and there's proof!  I'm afraid that a couple of errant typos have been spotted in 1 or 2 of my patterns. Frustrating all round!!  I will be correcting these for all new patterns and for those who purchased on Ravelry a new link will be available so you can download the revised pattern. In the meantime I have created an Errata Page which can be found at the top of the blog for ease of finding or in the left hand side bar under Pages of Useful Stuff which sets out the very minor corrections.

So I'll be off now to do my self imposed detention and 100 lines and sincerely promise not to do it again!!!

Knitting Pattern for Jasper the Tom Kitten

I thought that Daniel Spaniel could use a friend, so my needles have been clicking away again and this is what I've designed....

He's very sweet and I've named him Jasper after the rogue ginger tom cat my husband brought with him when we got married! (Save that the real Jasper only had 3 legs but that's another story!)

I've knitted him in 2 colour ways - here is Jasper as a black and white tom kitten...

I can't decide which colour I prefer him in!  I absolutely loved knitting with the Artesano Hummingbird DK yarn (the ginger kitten). I'm not a big fan of striping/patterned yarns - although I know many of you are - as most of the ones I've seen feel a bit too 70's. The Hummingbird Range (which they also do in a 4ply) is lovely though and the stripes didn't feel too bitty and definitely gave the right effect for a ginger tom cat. Or at least I think so...! The best thing is that the DK range comes in 150g hanks which means you have plenty left over to either knit a whole litter of kittens or rather selfishly, a pair of cuddly warm socks ready for winter. It's spun from Alpacas so is very soft! Anyway... enough goldblumming...

He's fairly quick to knit and makes a good inbetween project or even distraction from a project that's driving you crazy! You'll need slightly over half a ball of the main colour and about a quarter of a ball of the second colour so he's a good pattern for using up your odd ball of this and that which you bought on a whim and have stashed away in a cupboard!

He's 16cm tall so he's good for little (and not so little!) hands to grab hold of. Oliver loves him! He's fully suited to an advanced beginner and I'm more than happy to provide email assistance if you are struggling with anything.

Knitting Pattern for Daniel the Spaniel

I've added the finishing touches to my new knitted pal and have had the pattern checked!

And here he is.....

I have included a chart for the intarsia work as well as written instructions. There are lots of photos, over 30, plus a tutorial on how to gather the cast on seams and loop knitting if these techniques are not familiar to you.

As always I am more than happy to provide email assistance on any aspect of the pattern you are struggling with - how's that for customer service?!! I usually email within 24hours of a question being asked unless some sort of disaster has struck....
