Frog Hat Crochet Pattern
You will need:
3mm crochet hook
Small amounts of yarn in double knitting (DK) in green, black and cream
Notes
The pattern is written using UK crochet terminology. Please see the abbreviations for US equivalent.
The hat is crocheted in a continuous spiral.
I use the magic ring method and make the required number of double crochet stitches into the ring. If you prefer to chain 2 stitches and then double crochet into the second chain from the hook then that is fine but it will leave a little hole in the middle of the hat. The advantage of the magic ring method is that there isn’t a little hole because you pull the ring tight.
I used left over balls of Rowan Cotton Glace which is a DK weight. Once finished the hat measures about 6.5cm across and 6.5 cm high.
Abbreviations
Ch - chain
Dc - double crochet (US single crochet)
Dc2tog - double crochet 2 together to decrease (US single crochet 2 together to decrease)
Rnd - round
Sc - single crochet (US slip stitch)
Sts - stitches

Eyes (make 2)
This is a bit fiddly so try not to lose patience!
Rnd 1: using cream and the magic loop method, Ch1, 3 dc in ring (3sts). Pull starting ring tight to close the hole.
Rnd 2: dc into each st (3sts)
Fasten off, leaving about 10 cm to sew to the top of the head.
Using 3 threads of yarn (3ply) thread a darning needle and sew a tiny french knot into the middle of the eye. Sew each eye to the head. Alternatively stick on small googly eyes after sewing the cream part of the eye in place!
Pat yourself on the back and send the hat to Fruit Towers!
